Amarillo College, through a grant with the Texas Workforce Commission, will host a series of regional summits directed toward community college leaders, career technical education providers, adult education grantees, and local workforce board representatives. These partners are invited to attend the summit in teams to discuss how to support access, participation, and success of customers and students into middle skills jobs. The Texas Workforce Commission is committed to integrating basic education classes with workforce training programs to propel adult learners into high-demand jobs. The needle is moving, but there is much more we can do. In order to have the trained workforce to support economic growth in Texas, community colleges, adult education partners, and workforce board representatives must make their partnerships relevant by scaling co-enrollment to accelerate completion of credentials for in-demand occupations. Adult education and workforce providers, in alignment with community and technical colleges, have to develop partnerships where none exist and strengthen those that do by forging robust and meaningful articulation agreements and career and training integration pathways to help meet the needs of the current and future Texas economy and reach the completion goals under 60X30TX.
